Urgent Prayer Request

I was talking to our Argentine HHM missionary Edgardo Cabrera who is working in Salta province on Saturday.  He is currently caring for 4 different small groups of believers in the calchaqui valley region each month.  On June 13th they will hold the very first believers baptism service ever in the town of Seclantás on Sunday morning and then the first communion service that same evening.

This will in effect be the founding of a new church.  The local believers have chosen to call it “The Evangelical Church of Seclantás.”  It will in fact be the first protestant church in the entire county of Molinos.

I was awakened last night and felt that we MUST cover this event and the believers in MUCH PRAYER!

While a baptism and the establishing of a new church may sound wonderful to us, it is also a time when they will need to be covered by prayer and intercession more than ever.

In the 1500’s during the protestant reformation, when adult believers baptism was first practiced in Europe, many were persecuted and some killed because it so confronted the religious systems of the day.  Sadly it can still be like that in the remote areas of the Andes Mountains.  Believers have had their houses burned with their children inside, others have been chased out of town, and almost everyone is persecuted on some level.  It is a very courageous and serious step that these new believers are taking.

Please pray for those who will be baptized and receive their first communion on June 13th at the founding of the “Evangelical Church of Seclantás” and for protection, favor, and blessings for everyone who will be in attendance at this auspicious event.
